An excellent victory against the Baltimore Orioles in Baltimore's home field, Ed Smith Stadium. A seven inning outing for Lester in which he only gave up one run. Embree came on in relief and he gave up four runs. He has given up that many runs in a couple of relief outings - is he ready to be back? Back home for the Red Sox tomorrow.

Well the current winning streak for the Boston Red Sox ended today in Ed Smith Stadium. It had lasted for three games and Boston lost to the bats of the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles had the better hitting and pitching in the game. Boston's starting pitching was fine, but giving up the two Baltimore runs was more than enough for their win. Boston didn't hit enough today and just barely missed being shutout. Boston is at home tomorrow and once again playing the Minnesota Twins. Let's start a new streak for the final week.

A road game. A road win! The first pre-season victory in an away game for the Boston Red Sox came at Ed Smith Stadium against the Baltimore Orioles. Scoring in the game began with a homerun for the Orioles and ended with a homerun for the Red Sox. In between the homers, it was another rocky beginning for Boston's starting pitching, and despite leaving eight men on base, the late innings run production by the Red Sox hitters garnered the win. An extra nice thing about the win was that Casey Kelly, who is from Sarasota, was the wining pitcher and he did it in front of family and friends.

The Boston Red Sox made their last trip to Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota to play the Cincinnati Reds in a preseason game. In spite of the number of Red Sox errors, they managed to get away from this final game against the Reds with a win. Boston won this low-scoring game over Cincinnati by a score of two to one.

Located in Sarasota, the site of the latest Boston Red Sox victory was Ed Smith Stadium, which is the Spring Training ballpark for the Cincinnati Reds. The scoring was begun by the Reds with a single run in the bottom of the first. This would be their only run of the game. The Red Sox scored four runs in the top of the third on two two-run homers by Jed Lowrie and Chris Carter. Although those runs would be all they needed, Boston went on to score one run in the top of the seventh and four runs in the top of the eighth. At the end of the game, the Red Sox had scored nine runs and the Reds had scored one run.
