My Comment: Well, the Boston Red Sox kept it exciting to the bottom of the ninth; though I would have preferred less drama in the game - too nerve wracking. Boston heads home with a winning road trip and climbs back to .500. And, of course, winning both the Marlins and Cubs series. Looking forward to an even better homestand.

BOSTON: Starting Pitcher: Franklin Morales; Winning Pitcher: Matt Albers (2)
CUBS: Starting Pitcher: Paul Maholm; Losing Pitcher: Shawn Camp
BOSTON: Homerun: David Ortiz (16)

Red Sox: Wins 33, Losses 33, Percentage: .500

Next game: Tuesday 19 June 2012, 4:10 p.m.PT/7:10 p.m.ET, Miami Marlins, Fenway Park, Clay Buchholz

Red Sox Take Third Game and Series Win Over Cubs, 5 To 1

Cubs lowlight: Wellington Castillo's catcher interference error
Red Sox highlight: Tim Wakefield's pitching
Red Sox lowlight: Seven men left on base

My Comment: Well the world is still intact and the Red Sox found redemption today and won the series against the Cubs. I'm afraid the Cubs didn't enjoy their visit a much as they thought they would. The player of mention today is Adrian Gonzalez who went four for four and scored twice. Great bat! Boston departs on a seven-game road trip - Indians and Tigers are the opponents. Still within striking distance of first place.

CHICAGO CUBS: Starting Pitcher: James Russell; Losing Pitcher: James Russell
BOSTON: Starting Pitcher: Tim Wakefield; Winning Pitcher: Tim Wakefield (1)
BOSTON: Homerun: Jarrod Saltalamacchia (3)

RED SOX: Wins 25, Losses 21, Percentage .543

My Comment: I have nothing to write that I would want to be in print for eternity. But since the world is suppose to end today, I guess it doesn't matter. If we are still around, then the Red Sox seek redemption tomorrow and I'll have words to write.

CHICAGO CUBS: Starting Pitcher: Carlos Zambrano; Winning Pitcher: Sean Marshall

Cubs Cringe As Red Sox Connect Constantly In A First Game Victory, 15 To 5

Cubs highlight: Jeff Baker's hitting
Cubs lowlight: Four errors
Red Sox highlight: Nineteen hits
Red Sox lowlight: Jed Lowrie's throwing error

My Comment: Welcome Cubs to Fenway! After the initial reception the Red Sox gave the rare visitors, it may be another 93 years before the Cubs return. Boston has its highest number of hits and runs this season in the overwhelming defeat of Chicago. Almost every Red Sox player joined in the festivities in some fashion. And the best outcome of this seventh straight win is that the Red Sox are now in second place in the AL East for the first time this season, passing you-know-who in third place. First place is in sight!

CHICAGO CUBS: Starting Pitcher: Doug Davis; Losing Pitcher: Doug Davis
BOSTON: Starting Pitcher: Jon Lester; Winning Pitcher: Jon Lester (6)
BOSTON: Save: Scott Atchison (1)
BOSTON: Homeruns: Kevin Youkilis (8), Jarrod Saltalamacchia (2)

RED SOX: Wins 24, Losses 20, Percentage .545
