My Comment: No club record for the number of wins in April and the first time this season that Boston didn't win the first game of a series. However, the Red Sox end the first month of the 2013 season not only in first place in the American League East, but also with the best record in baseball. Boston will start May in an excellent place.

TORONTO: Starting Pitcher: Brandon Morrow; Winning Pitcher: Steve Delabar

My Comment: A four-game sweep of the Astros by the Red Sox to end the homestand and send Boston on the road to Toronto still in first place in the American League East. A wonderful end to a homestand that began with unhappiness, but Boston came through and came together. Now onto a great road trip!

My Comment: The Boston Red Sox have been in first place for the first 26 days of the season and this is the first time in the team's history that they have done that. Looking forward to Boston extending that record well into the season. With today's win, the Red Sox have guaranteed themselves at least a split of the series, but another sweep is the goal.

My Comment: The game was over at the end of the first inning, though Boston and Houston still had to play eight more innings. Fortunately, it was the Red Sox who were happy with the score in the first inning and stayed happy throughout the game. Boston is now 15 and 7, while Houston is 7 and 15. Interestingly, at the conclusion of this game, Boston's starting pitcher is 5 and 0, while Houston's starting pitcher is 0 and 5. Just a passing observation.

My Comment: Rain delay at the end of the seventh inning in the game between the Red Sox and the Athletics came too late as far as Boston is concerned. Too bad the game hadn't simply been postponed before it even began. Definitely the worse loss for the team this season and one in which they were shutout. Why Aceves is being allowed to start when he was not consistently effective as a closer, does not make sense to me. Problems with fielding, balking and walking all in one inning is just the equation for disaster. Let's hope that Lester can keep his game together tomorrow and the Red Sox can salvage a series win.
