My Comment: American League East Champions!!! The Boston Red Sox haven't been the division champions since 2007 (and we know what happned that year in October). My Comment: As is typical Red Sox fashion, the game after one with a huge hitting display is usually marked by quieter bats. That was borne out today as Boston had nine fewer hits in their win over Toronto than they did yesterday. No matter, the Red Sox won the series and that is what counts. Now the team is off to Texas for a three-game series. Will probably have a tougher time in Texas than they did in Toronto, but I'm sure good things will happen.

My Comment: No club record for the number of wins in April and the first time this season that Boston didn't win the first game of a series. My Comment: Love the hitting and homerun game the Red Sox demonstrated today! And the shutout payback was just a extra bonus in a suberb Boston win. Great combination of power and pitching that sends the Red Sox to Fenway with a winning road record to start the season for the first time in two years. Wish I was on the plane with the team on their way back to Boston - lots of happy people on that flight! Tomorrow is Boston's home opener and coming off a win like today is a wonderful emotional state to play the game against the Baltimore Orioles. Over this Toronto series, Boston averaged 6.33 runs and 9.66 hits per game. And, by the way, the Red Sox are in first place all alone. Yeah!!

My Comment: Though his welcome back to Toronto by Blue Jays fans can not be described as joyous, at least John Farrell found pleasure in the win against his old team to start the three-game series. The long ball finally happened for Boston, including a ninth inning insurance blast by Middlebrooks. Boston lead or tied, but was never behind and had double digit hits. Onto another series win!
