As usual Andrew is in my favorite New England sports living bar when I enter. There's one woman sitting at the bar and Grant, the new owner, is here as well. The Boston Red Sox need to win this third game against the Toronto Blue Jays today in Fenway Park - salvaging the series is in order. More people have entered the bar - here early for the New England Patriots and New York Jets football game. Yes, it will be a crowded day in the bar. Brace for it! The Blue Jays don't score in the first inning - a good start for Lester. A non-scoring game so far - the duel continues. But Martinez has just hit a homerun to put the Red Sox on top! Still keeping the Blue Jays at bay, even with the bases loaded. Keep it up Lester! More people have arrived at the bar. Another good turnout. With no outs in the fifth, Boston has added on to its lead by three runs. Just batting the ball around. And it's another homerun for Boston! Thank you Drew! In the sixth, Rich has come in for the end of the Red Sox game. It won't be as long a day for him in the bar as it will be for me. Boston has the bases loaded in the sixth with two outs - can they get more runs? No they can't. Oh well, the seventh is coming up. Two guys have joined me in the booth - Mike and Danny - they haven't been here since the change in ownership and they are from Massachusetts. It's now the ninth and a chance to keep the shutout against the Blue Jays. A friend of Mike's and Danny's has arrived. His name is Mark and he is also from MA. And the Red Sox pull out the shutout against the Blue Jays! Let this be the start of a new winning streak. And good news - both the Yankees and the Rays lost!

Now for the afternoon session in my favorite New England sports living bar (the morning session was the opening game of the New England Patriots who beat the Cincinnati Bengals by a score of thirty-eight to twenty-four). Let's hope that the Boston Red Sox can keep the victory mode going by taking the final game against the Oakland Athletics to salvage something from this three-game series in the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. It certainly is quieter now than it was an hour ago! The crowd has dispersed and only Red Sox fans and some people interested in other baseball games are left. So far there is no score in the game, but a number of walks are being given. And Beckett walks four straight batters and the Athletics are on the board first. Well Oakland continues to score and Boston has yet to put a number on the board. Does not look good for the Red Sox. But wait - Drew drives in two runs in the top of the sixth and Boston finally scores. Now Boston has the lead! Unfortunately I'm not hearing the play of the game as music is blaring in the bar. What a pain. The Red Sox are holding onto the lead - perhaps they get the win. Come on Sox!! They added onto the lead - that's great! Papelbon is pitching in the ninth with a two run Boston lead - can he not blow the save? Yes! Onto Seattle.

Another Sunday morning at my favorite New England sports living bar and at the start of the game I'm the only patron and as usual Andrew is working. Rich has arrived and sitting at the bar. The Boston Red Sox are playing the Chicago White Sox in Fenway Park in the final game of a three-game series. Let's hope that if the score is once again three to one, it is the Red Sox with the three. Another regular, Lisa, has come in. Well, the White Sox have scored first, but Beckett has gotten out of a couple of jams. Just one more person has come into the bar and the new owner, Grant is around. Yeah! The Red Sox have scored and taken the lead! The Boston lead has lasted for three innings - now Chicago leads by one run. But wait - a homerun by Martinez puts the Red Sox back on top. Just hold on Boston! And they don't hold on - a blown save by Papelbon. Gee, Chicago takes the lead again - can Boston at least tie in the ninth? No, the Red Sox are swept by the White Sox - first time at home since 1991.
