My Comment: On this Home Opening Day for the Boston Red Sox, I am watching the game in my favorite New England sports loving bar. Haven't been here since sometime early last season. Don't know if I'll be back often, but it is good to be here. There are around twenty people in the bar watching the game which, after four innings is turning into a duel for the pitchers. Daniel Nava hits a three-run homer in the seventh and the Red Sox take the lead. Pitching change for the Orioles - Tommy Huntet comes in. I had to leave in the middle of the eigth - still a work day for me. But I learn later of the one-run homer by the Orioles in the ninth - just too little, too late for Baltimore. So, Boston wins its home opener and remains in first place. Though it wasn't as much of a hitting game as yesterday's was, it is great that it was a victory and Boston is just rolling along this 2013 season.
BALTIMORE: Starting Pitcher: Wei-Yen Chen; Losing Pitcher: Wei-Yen Chen
BOSTON: Starting Pitcher: Clay Buchholz; Winning Pitcher: Clay Buchholz (2)
BOSTON: Save: Joel Hanrahan (3)
BALTIMORE: Homerun: Adam Jones
BOSTON: Homerun: Daniel Nava (2)
Red Sox: Wins 5, Losses 2, Percentage: .714
Next game: Wednesday 10 April 2013, 4:10 p.m.PT/7:10 p.m.ET, Baltimore Orioles, Fenway Park, Ryan Dempster
