DETROIT: 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 3 - 3 5 1
BOSTON: 0 1 2 0 0 0 0 0 1 - 4 9 0
It's another Sunday morning in my favorite New England sports living bar and as usual Andrew is working and I am the first patron on the scene, but that won't last long. The Boston Red Sox returned from their West coast road trip with six wins and four losses - better than I thought they would do - and came back to Fenway Park riding a sweep of the Los Angeles Angels. Yesterday's trading deadline came and went and the one major trade the Red Sox did was to send relief pitcher Ramon Ramirez to the San Francisco Giants for a couple of Minor Leaguers. The third game has begun against the Detroit Tigers and Rich and two other Red Sox fans have arrived. There's also a guy who is watching the Phillies/Nationals game. Wonder if there will be any end of game heroics as there have been the past two games - let's hope it won't be necessary. And Boston starts out aggressively with a stolen second base by Scutaro, but no score in the game. Thank you J. D. Drew for the sliding catch! Boston does score first and Verlander is giving up walks. Thank you Youkilis for the leaping catch! A few more people have come into the bar, but nothing overwhelming and Andrew can handle everyone. Clay is looking good on the mound and the Tigers have yet to score. But there will not be a complete game for Buchholz. No outs, two on - it's Papelbon. One pitch - two runs - no outs. Comeback Clay! one out - another run - tie score. Unexpectedly Boston is up in the bottom of the ninth. Have to stick with the starters Terry. End of game heroics will be needed - can it be done again? YES! Thank you Marco Scutaro!
