My Comment: Welcome to Fenway and to victory! Home is sweet!! The Red Sox had the lead at the end of the seventh and kept it for their first win of 2011.
MLB News: Former Boston Red Sox leftfielder, Manny Ramirez (Tampa Bay Rays), has abruptly retired after nineteen years playing professional baseball. MLB issued the following statement:
Major League Baseball recently notified Manny Ramirez of an issue under Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment program. Rather than continue with the process under the program, Ramirez has informed MLB that he is retiring as an active player. If Ramirez seeks reinstatement in the future, the process under the drug program will be completed. MLB will not have any further comment on this matter.
I am as surprised as anyone at this announcement, but for all he did while a member of the Red Sox, I wish Manny well for the future.

Congratulations to the Red Sox on finally winning a game in the 2011 season! When you score 9 runs, have a batting average of .333, and go 6-for-10 with runners in scoring position, you have a good chance of winning the game. In their prior six games (all losses), the Red Sox averaged 2.7 runs per game, had a batting average of .181, and were 7-for-44 with runners in scoring position, so Friday’s game was a huge improvement.
ReplyDeleteI anticipate more games like Friday's from the Red Sox this season, rather than the dismal showing of the first six games. The only place to go is up!
