Well I'm back at my favorite New England sports living bar after a two week absence. Although the Boston Red Sox have a number of players injured and on the disabled list (is there a calcium deficiency among baseball players this season?), Boston is in second place in the AL East. And once again the Red Sox have six players named to the All-Star roster - third baseman Adrian Beltre, pitcher Clay Buchholz, pitcher Jon Lester, catcher Victor Martinez, DH David Ortiz, and second baseman Dustin Pedroia. Unfortunately, Victor and Dustin are on the disabled list, so they will be replaced. Always good to have decent Red Sox representation at the mid-season classic.
Considering that today is the 4th of July, there may be few of us here. Andrew is working today and so far I'm the only one in the bar. Just before the start of the game, a couple arrived - now there are three of us. Rich has come in and he talked about his baseball stadium road trip. He had a great time - was in the middle of a hail storm in Nebraska, sat in the bleachers in Wrigley, met up with a friend in Denver and saw the Red Sox play. Only seven more stadiums for Rich to visit.
Having a good pitchers dual between Boston and the Baltimore Orioles. Unfortunately the Orioles score first in Fenway Park. More arrivals in the bar, Lisa and Andrew's wife Jess (she just stayed for a few minutes). Red Sox are stranding men on base and just don't seem to be getting anything going. A number of long shots by Boston, but nothing is dropping in the park. Oh another two runs for Baltimore. Once again, two Oriole runs. Last chance for Boston - Youk homerun. No happiness for Boston on this holiday. At least there was not a shutout. Now Boston goes on the road before the All-Star. Congrats Red Sox All-Stars!
