Seattle Settles Boston

BOSTON: 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 0 - 2 7 0
SEATTLE: 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 3 x - 4 11 0

Good Afternoon! A rare time for me to be in my favorite New England sports living bar. There are about a dozen people here - half women, half men - and that is also rare for there to be such an even breakdown in the genders at any one time in the bar. Speaking of evenness, the Boston Red Sox currently have three wins and three losses on their ten-game road trip and they will try to increase the win number today in the game against the Seattle Mariners. After a couple of innings, a little dual between pitchers. Lots of chatter between a woman and a man at the bar about baseball. Ah, a lot of impressing going on. There has been scoring in Safeco Field, but it is the Mariners who have broken the stalemate. Now they have the bases loaded with two outs and do not score. Well, Boston has decided join in the scoring and has taken the lead - let's keep it! More people have come into the bar and are contributing to the noise level. A lot more people than I think Andrew was anticipating this Sunday. No Rich today, but Jen has arrived and will ease Andrew's afternoon. Never thought there would be so many people here on a Sunday afternoon. And there is a dart playing boy to my left and a friend has joined him. Much activity today. Bottom of the eighth and the Mariners have the bases loaded with no outs (Okajima cannot field his position). Now Seattle has the lead and there are still not any outs and two on base. Bases-loaded again and still no outs!!! Thank you Youkilis! Two outs, two on. Finally it ends. Should have kept Matsuzaka in, no matter what his pitch count was. Can Boston come back? No they can't and they split with Seattle and have three wins and four losses on the road trip. It's onto Los Angeles and perhaps better results.
