My Comment: One down and three to go! Looking for another sweep of the Cardinals in this World Series. Glad the Red Sos offense was great in combination with the poor defense of the Cardinals. It was an error-filled game for the Boston Red Sox in Roger Dean Stadium today and another losing one for Boston. Although the Red Sox lead most of the game, the St. Louis Cardinals had a seven-run late inning rally, and combined with the Red Sox errors, secured their win. It is the second game in a row that Boston lost to an opponent who had a large run-scoring inning towards the end of the game. Boston has to hold on to leads and not give games away.

Continuing their winning ways at home, the Boston Red Sox hosted the St. Louis Cardinals today and survived a late game rally by the Cardinals in City of Palms Park. Most of the game went smoothly along for the Red Sox until the seventh inning when the Cardinals began hitting. Even though most of Boston's hits had already occurred (seven hits for two runs), the three hits in the eighth and ninth produced five runs and the victory. Overall, the Red Sox hits to runs ratio in the game was good, but they did leave ten men on base. Should have been a higher scoring game for Boston. In any case, Beckett had an excellent outing and that is marvelous.

This last Spring Training meeting of the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals took place in the City of Palms Park in Fort Myers. There were plenty of hits in the game including one homerun by the Cardinals (David Freese in the top of the third) and two homeruns by the Red Sox (a two-run homerun by Jason Varitek in the bottom of the sixth and a three-run homer by Chip Ambres in the bottom of the tenth to win the game). This was Boston's ninth win in the last ten games and they seem to becoming into their usual regular season form at the stretch of the preseason.

Jupiter was the site for the first Spring Training meeting of the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals. Scoring first was the Red Sox with one run each in the top of the fifth and seventh innings. Though the Cardinals scored last in the game, they put across two runs each in the bottom of the eighth and ninth innings. St. Louis beat Boston four to two.
