My Comment: David Ortiz does it again! He hit a three-run walk-off homer in the ninth inning to win the game and the series!! Love the drama of the game - baseball is exciting.

TEXAS: Starting Pitcher: Derek Holland; Losing Pitcher: Michael Kirkman
BOSTON: Starting Pitcher: Jon Lester; Winning Pitcher: Andrew Bailey (2)

Red Sox Rested Against Rangers

Teams1st2nd3rd4th5th6th7th8th9thRunsHitsErrors

Rangers highlight: One homerun

My Comment: Guess the Red Sox were exhausted from all that hitting yesterday. But this has been a pattern for Boston, so I'm not surprised a the lack of power today. Unfortunately, their lead in the AL East did shrink with this loss and the Yankees win. Let's hope Boston recovers enough tomorrow to take the rubber game and get the series win.

TEXAS: Starting Pitcher: Alexi Ogando; Winning Pitcher: Neal Cotts
BOSTON: Starting Pitcher: John Lackey; Losing Pitcher: Craig Breslow (1)
TEXAS: Save: Joe Nathan
TEXAS: Homerun: Adrian Beltre
BOSTON: Homerun: Dustin Pedroia (4)

My Comment: Hits, runs and homeruns for the Red Sox today as they completely control this first game of a three-game series against the Rangers. Just hope Boston is not hit exhausted tomorrow. Amazing victory! Season high in hits and runs!! Yea, Red Sox!

TEXAS: Starting Pitcher: Justin Grimm; Losing Pitcher: Jusrin Grimm

My Comment: Well, I did write that playing Texas would be tough - just didn't expect it to be this rough with the Red Sox blowing a six inning lead in the final game. Thankfully, the Red Sox leave for Boston and, one hopes, a better series.

BOSTON: Starting Pitcher: Jon Lester; Losing Pitcher: Clayton Mortensen (2)

My Comment: Although the game was a little better for the Boston Red Sox than yesterday's (scored a run), they still lost and will not win this series. There's a very good chance that the Red Sox will be swept. Amazingly, Boston is still in first place and still has the best record in the Major League. They have to win tomorrow.
