My Comment: With a little help from a Minnesota outfileder, Dustin has his second homerun of the season to give Boston some breathing room going into the bottom of the ninth. Boston records its fourth sweep of the season as it heads to Chicago to play the White Sox for three games.

My Comment: The Boston Red Sox losing streak is over at five and surprisingly they do it on the road! Not having to play the third game against the Yankees and thus being able to arrive in Minnesota earlier than expected, I'm sure helped. And Cody Ross has been doing it since Spring Training - he just needs to learn how to play Fenway Park's Right Field. No matter what I thought of J. D. Drew's bat, he knew how to play that part of the park. Now let's have a five (and more) game winning streak!

Minnesota Blanks Boston

The Boston Red Sox end their first road trip of the 2010 season with an error-ridden, no run-producing disaster. I should stop being amazed at the lack of hitting that occurs after a game in which the Red Sox have a large number of hits. It is just Boston's modus operandi and the Minnesota Twins definitely took advantage of it today in Target Field. All three Boston errors were committed by new members of the Red Sox - yes, this is called learning defense using the on-the-job-training method. Not quite the best way to do it in actual games that count. Today's bright spot was Dustin "Power" Pedroia who had fifty percent of the Red Sox hits and now has a .405 batting average. Amazingly, Dustin is leading the team in homeruns with four of them. Of course Pedroia's batting average may not stay at the .400 level, but the fact that he has reached it is cause for celebration. Way to go Pedrioa!

Even in a team sport such as baseball, sometimes one man makes a difference. For the Boston Red Sox that difference was three runs and a win against the Minnesota Twins. And the man making the difference was Boston newcomer Jeremy Hermida. Playing left until Ellsbury returns (probably on Friday), Hermida batted in the winning run; actually he batted in three runs! So, after this second game played in the new Target Field, the series is tied at one game apiece. For Boston, the 1,2,3,4 of the game was as follows: first win for Lackey, double (game winning) for Hermida, third save for Papelbon, and fourth homerun for Pedroia (team leading). The series tiebreaker will be played tomorrow. Let's get over .500 Red Sox!
