Orioles highlight: Four hits
Orioles lowlight: Derek Lee's fielding error
Red Sox highlisht: John Lackey's pitching
Red Sox lowlight: Eight men left on base

My Comment: A much quieter day in Fenway Park than yesterday both in terms of actual baseball hits and potential physical punches. Today's fighting took place on the mound and the Red Sox emerged victorious, blanking Baltimore and winning the series. Boston is still atop the AL East ahead of the Yankees. Speaking of the Yankees, in the true spirit of acknowledging baseball accomplishments, I'd like to offer my congratulations to Derek Jeter for reaching the 3,000 hit plateau and dramatically doing so with a homerun. Since A-Rod decided not to go to the All-Star Game, Kevin Youkilis has been chosen to take his place. Congrats Kevin! And tomorrow the Red Sox go for the sweep!

BALTIMORE: Starting Pitcher: Alfredo Simon; Losing Pitcher: Alfredo Simon
BOSTON: Starting Pitcher: John Lackey; Winning Pitcher: John Lackey (6)

RED SOX: Wins 54, Losses 35, Percentage .607

Next game: Sunday 10 July 2011, 10:35 a.m.PT/1:35 p.m.ET, Baltimore Orioles, Fenway Park, Kyle Weiland
