Red Sox | 2 | 3 | 0 | 5 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | X | 12 | 16 | 2 |
Royals highlight: Two homeruns
Royals lowlight: One error
Red Sox highlight: David Ortiz's grand slam
Red Sox lowlight: Two errors
My Comment: Congratulation to David Ortiz on his (and the team's) first grand slam of the season! David's grand slam was the tenth of his career (ninth with the Red Sox and was his one thousandth hit with Boston). And the milestones keep coming! In the game, the Royals and the Red Sox had the same number of hits, but Boston scored over twice as many runs. Boston was more effective in clearing the bases than Kansas City today - a good development for the Red Sox.
KANSAS: Starting Pitcher: Bruce Chen; Losing Pitcher: Bruce Chen
BOSTON: Starting Pitcher: John Lackey; Winning Pitcher: John Lackey (9)
KANSAS: Homeruns: Eric Hosmer, Billy Butler
BOSTON: Homeruns: Jacoby Ellsbury (17), Dustin Pedroia (14), David Ortiz (20, grand slam)
RED SOX: Wins 64, Losses 38, Percentage .627
Next Game: Thursday 28 July 2011, 10:35 a.m.PT/1:35 p.m.ET, Kansas City Royals, Fenway Park, Josh Beckett
