Daisuke Matsuzaka is a right-handed batting and throwing pitcher. He is a starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. Daisuke made his Major League debut with the Boston Red Sox on Thursday 5 April 2007 when he was twenty-six years, six months, and twenty-three days old. The Red Sox played the Kansas City Royals in Kauffman Stadium that day and Daisuke pitched seven innings and gave up one run in the four to one victory. He pitched for the World Baseball Classic champion Japan 2006 and 2009, named World Baseball Classic MVP 2006 and 2009, and has a ring for the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox 2007. Daisuke wears number eighteen.
