Red Sox Run-off Yankees, 5 to 4

NY YANKEES: 0 0 0 2 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 - 4 13 1
BOSTON: 1 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 2 0 1 - 5 14 0

Well, as I suggested in yesterday's post, pitching did indeed turn out to be the key in this game between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees - at least for most of it. Not an overwhelming number of runs scored and the starting pitchers were fine - it was the relief pitching for the Red Sox that was shaky. I hate when Francona takes out a fairly effective starting pitcher in a close game and relies on the bullpen. I know Lester had a high pitch count, but don't strikeouts count as well? Anyway, Youk came through and hit a homerun out of Fenway Park and the Red Sox have their first walk-off win in extra innings for 2009!
