Boston Whips Washington, 11 to 3

BOSTON: 0 1 0 1 1 0 1 6 1 - 11 17 0
WASHINGTON: 1 0 0 1 0 1 0 0 0 - 3 8 1

Interleague play continues on the road for the Boston Red Sox. Boston heads south and opens the road trip with a three-game series against the Washington Nationals. Even though it was a slow, back-and-forth start to the scoring, the Red Sox turned it into a hit fest at Nationals Park in the eighth inning. It was the Jay and Jacoby show tonight which included one homerun and two triples between them. For the first time in almost four decades, Boston played in Washington, D.C. and the beginning of the renewed experience is a good one. And mentioning "first", the Red Sox still lead the American League and are five games ahead of the Yankees and Blue Jays in the Al East.
