After a week away I am back at my favorite New England sports living bar. While I am watching the game, a fundraising event is underway for a former bar waitress, Stacie, who has breast cancer. Several people stopped by the bar before heading to the event, including Stacie. It was great to see her looking well and as I wear my Team Stacie t-shirt in support, I wish Stacie a very successful event and great day! In the bar is the other usual suspect - Rich - and two guys I saw on my way to the bar. Very quiet. May change later when the Celtics/Magic game starts. Both pitchers are starting their innings with walks. Bases-loaded for the Detroit Tigers in the second with two outs. A run scores, still bases-loaded and two outs. Another run scores. Still bases-loaded and two outs. Walks hurt. The Boston Red Sox did get one of them back in the next inning. Missed ground ball by Hall continues the fourth with two outs and adds two to Detroit. More people have arrived, including the waitress Jen (anticipation of a basketball crowd). Lackey is not a good fielder. Boston had its chance with the bases-loaded and two outs in the seventh, but they don't score any runs. Come on guys! The basketball people are in full force in the bar and the Celtics game is about to begin. The noise level has audibly increased. Well the Red Sox didn't pull it off in Comerica Park and at halftime the Celtics are leading the Magic. Perhaps there will be some Boston joy today.
