Besides Andrew (bartender extraordinaire) and the kitchen staff, the only patrons in my favorite New England sports living bar are myself and fellow regular Rich. Although it is not good for the economy of the bar, I do hope that it doesn't become too crowded - probably safe until the Los Angeles Lakers playoff game. A former Boston Red Sox player is in the lineup for the Baltimore Orioles today - Julio Lugo at shortstop. Rich said that he is going on a baseball stadium tour in June - Rockies, Cubs, Tigers, Pirates - to increase the number of stadiums he's visited. Sounds like a great trip! Yes, more people have arrived - the softball players and Lisa. Having a pitcher's duel today at Oriole Park. But Beckett is hitting Wigginton - twice! Bases-loaded for the Orioles in the fourth with nobody out - strikeout time. Well, the Lakers game has started, but no one here is watching it. Beckett taken out after the end of the seventh, 105 pitches. Mistake? Sending Varitek in the top of the eighth - not a good play. Daniel Bard in for Beckett. Bases-loaded for the Orioles in the bottom of the eighth, one out. Bard strikes out two! Now we are going into extra innings! More Red Sox people have arrived, but not too noisy. Papelbon ninth and tenth. Papelbon made an error - cost the game? Yes. Boston on the other side of a sweep this series. Going home to Boston to regroup.
