BOSTON: 1 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 x - 3 10 0
A game was won and a shutout was lost. The Boston Red Sox won the game against the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox lost the shutout against the Toronto Blue Jays. Buchholz had a shutout going into the ninth inning and after getting an out, Clay was taken out of the game. Another opportunity for a complete game and shutout gone. Why, Terry, why? Stay with the starter - reduce the possibility of runs off a new pitcher. It would have been awful if Clay's wonderful outing had been in vain. Complete games please! The Red Sox will be going for the sweep in Fenway Park tomorrow. Boston still leads the AL Wild Card.
