Sox Surpass Pirates

Bradenton was the site of the Boston Red Sox's first extra-inning game of the preseason and second game with the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was a run-fest for both teams and resulted in a Boston victory. There was scoring in every inning except the second and the Red Sox began with three runs in the top of the first and five runs in the top of the third. The Pirates responded with four runs in the bottom of the third and one run in the bottom of the fourth. Boston continued to produce runs in the fifth (three), seventh (one), nineth (two), and tenth (one - the winning run) innings. While Pittsburgh produced runs in the sixth (two), eighth (four), and nineth (three). The final score was Boston fifteen and Pittsburgh fourteen.
